Basin Electric and Powder River Energy's Foundation, the charitable foundation for a Basin Electric Class C member located in Gillette, Wyoming, teamed up to make a $10,000 donation to Climb Wyoming, fostering workforce development so low-income single mothers can discover self-sufficiency through career training and placement.

Climb Wyoming is a statewide nonprofit that creates brighter futures for struggling single mothers and their families. The program includes job training and placement in high-demand careers, such as truck driving and healthcare, as well as individual and group therapy, and life skill classes in personal financial management, parenting, and more.

The award was doubled to $10,000 when the foundation applied for and received approval for a matching grant from Basin Electric dedicated to helping rural non-profit organizations. With this grant, Climb Wyoming can leverage additional federal matching dollars from other sources, more than doubling the total impact of this donation.

"The PRECorp Foundation, and matching partners like Basin Electric, strive to support groups like Climb Wyoming," said Foundation Board President John Flocchini.

Jennifer Holen, Basin Electric chariable giving administrator, says Climb Wyoming does more than just help mothers, they change their lives and the lives of their children for the long term. "Climb sets themselves apart from others in this way. I am always shocked by the analytics there and how many people's lives they have changed," she says.

With the PRECorp donation, Climb will continue its role as a critical resource hub for low-income single mother familes while offering career training to fill local employer needs.
