McCollam named Basin Electric’s new Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer

Basin Electric Power Cooperative announced that Gavin McCollam will assume the role of senior vice president & chief operating officer effective Dec. 1, 2022.
 
McCollam has more than 31 years of experience in power plant design and construction. He has also worked at Basin Electric’s subsidiary Dakota Gasification Company. McCollam has been involved in many projects over the years, including serving as project manager for Deer Creek Station, Basin Electric’s first combined-cycle generating facility. His most recent role was Basin Electric’s vice president of Engineering and Construction.
 
McCollam earned an associate’s degree from Bismarck (North Dakota) State College, a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from North Dakota State University, and a master’s degree in systems management from the University of Southern California. He is also a registered professional engineer.
 
“I am fortunate to have worked with outstanding individuals at Basin Electric in support of its membership and I am very excited to take on this new role,” said McCollam.
 
McCollam lives in Bismarck, North Dakota, with his wife, Valerie. Together they have two adult daughters, Jessamyn and Jiselle.
