Basin Electric prides itself on its culture and commitment to its employees, making new hires feel welcome and appreciated from Day 1.
Although Patrick Frohlich has only been at Basin Electric for a few months, it’s already starting to feel like home. With several family members on staff at Headquarters, Frohlich doesn’t have to look far to see a familiar face. “They’re one of the many reasons I chose to apply at Basin Electric,” says Frohlich, Basin Electric property and right-of-way specialist. “They have nothing but good things to say.”
As a property and right-of-way specialist, Frohlich acts as the face of Basin Electric when it comes to meeting with tenants and landowners where Basin Electric plans to build or owns facilities such as generation units or transmission lines. Part of his job is to make sure property owned by Basin Electric is being managed. His position also requires getting permission from landowners to build on their property. Frohlich considers himself a people person and enjoys making connections; he isn’t afraid to pull up into a yard and visit with people. So far, things are working out well. “I appreciate meeting with landowners face to face, and I know they do too,” Frohlich says. “It creates a relationship.”
Having the opportunity to start what he calls his “third career,” has been a great experience. He says the people at Basin Electric are awesome. “Everyone is so friendly, and I really enjoy what I’m doing. My job allows me to do a bit of traveling, and I have the flexibility to schedule visits around my other duties. It’s a good fit.” He says every day is a new adventure.
In addition to the people and culture, Basin Electric’s benefits package was hard to ignore. “Benefits can mean as much as the pay,” Frohlich says. He was also drawn to Basin Electric for its location and commitment to community. He frequently heard “that’s a good place to work” and was anxious to get started.
Frohlich is an Army veteran, a husband, and father of five, with two children still at home. He says when he’s not busy with family, he enjoys being outside and playing in the dirt on his son’s property.
“Basin Electric is a place where you can have a great career not just a good job,” Frohlich says, and is looking forward to his future with the cooperative.
