Basin Electric prides itself on its culture and commitment to its employees, offering an impressive benefits package and professional development opportunities to attract the best in the business.

With five months under his belt, Jeffrey Landblom, Basin Electric commodity risk analyst, is happy to be part of a team that aligns with his interests, focusing on finance and credit quality

After hearing many positive reviews about Basin Electric, Landblom’s good friend and prior co-worker, Andy Buntrock, Basin Electric vice president of strategic planning and communications, suggested he apply for the position. In addition to the interesting aspects of the role, there were other things that attracted him to Basin Electric. “The benefits package is impressive, primarily the onsite medical services and employer contributions toward health insurance and retirement, and were part of the deciding factor, along with options for a flexible schedule,” Landblom says. “Headquarters is an impressive building and services offered at the location truly make you want to spend your day onsite.”

In his role as a commodity risk analyst, Landblom works closely with the financial and accounting teams. “One of my primary roles focuses on establishing and maintaining credit exposure for the counterparties that marketing and scheduling transact with daily. As new business opportunities arise, I work with our team to establish credit limits/duration of purchases/sales that align with the financial strength of a counterparty,” Landblom says.

The role is quite involved with monitoring the news and rating agencies for potential reports that may limit or enhance the counterparty ratings and subsequent credit/duration limits. He also works with margin calls by monitoring the counterparty financial positions affected by trading activity and price movements daily.

Landblom plans to stay with Basin Electric for the long term, as there is a platform for growth and opportunities for development. In the short time he’s been at Basin Electric, there have been opportunities for individuals to take on additional or different roles based on business needs, and he is confident that there will continue to be changing needs that expand his skill set. “There is no shortage of learning opportunities,” he says.

He and his wife have three children, a dog, and small side businesses that keep him busy, but when he has some free time, he enjoys doing small engine repair work and woodworking.

Landblom recommends Basin Electric to friends and family saying, “Basin Electric offers stability and a learning environment for various levels of experience, education, and interests, along with a strong benefits package.”
