Basin Electric Director Mike McQuistion remembered for leadership and service

Mike McQuistion, Basin Electric board director, died on Feb. 17.

Director McQuistion joined the Basin Electric Board of Directors in 2013. Representing District 7, he served members of both Rushmore Electric Power Cooperative and West Central Electric Cooperative as a director since 1996. 

Over the course of his many years of service, McQuistion showed an unwavering commitment to the cooperative principles and to the members and communities he served. 

“Mike’s impact on Basin Electric and the members he served will be felt for years to come,” Wayne Peltier, Basin Electric board president, said. “We are deeply appreciative of the knowledge and dedication he brought to the cooperative family and to rural America. Our hearts are with Mike’s family and with the Basin Electric employees and members who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.” 

His leadership and dedication to strengthening and guiding rural electric co-ops will be remembered across the cooperative family.
