Basin Electric, subsidiary boards hold reorganization meetings in January

The directors of Basin Electric and its subsidiaries elected board officers at their reorganization meetings held Jan. 9. The reorganizations were delayed one month, from December 2022, due to winter weather causing the December meeting to be held virtually. Officers are nominated and elected for one-year terms by the directors.

For Basin Electric, Wayne Peltier, Cottonwood, Minnesota, was re-elected president. He’s been a Basin Electric director since 2008, representing District 9.

Kermit Pearson, Lake City, South Dakota, was re-elected vice president. He’s been a director since 1997 and represents East River Electric Power Cooperative, District 1.

Paul Baker, Gillette, Wyoming, was re-elected secretary-treasurer. He's been a director since 2013 and represents Members 1st Power Cooperative, District 10.

Leo Brekel, Fleming, Colorado, was re-elected assistant secretary. He’s been a Basin Electric director since 2014 and represents Tri-State G&T Association, District 5.

For Dakota Gasification Company, Tom Wagner was elected chairman. Wagner has been a Basin Electric director since 2017, representing Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative, District 4. He is from Primghar, Iowa. Dave Meschke was elected vice chairman, and has been a Basin Electric director since 2017 representing L&O Power Cooperative, District 2. Meschke is from Welcome, Minnesota. Dan Gliko was re-elected treasurer. He has been a Basin Electric director since 2017, representing Central Montana Electric Power Cooperative, District 6. He is from Great Falls, Montana.

Troy Presser, Turtle Lake, North Dakota, was re-elected chairman of Dakota Coal Company. He’s been a Basin Electric director since 2015 and represents Central Power Electric Cooperative, District 3. Allen Thiessen was elected vice chairman; Thiessen is from Sidney, Montana, and has represented Upper Missouri Power Cooperative, District 8, on the Basin Electric board since 2012. Jerry Beck, Spencer, Iowa, was elected treasurer. He has represented Corn Belt Power Cooperative, District 11, on the Basin Electric board since 2021. The officers and directors for Dakota Coal are the same for Montana Limestone Company, a subsidiary of Dakota Coal.
