Basin Electric to implement rate adjustment for Security & Response Services

Basin Electric will implement a rate adjustment for its Security & Response Services (SRS) beginning Jan. 1, 2026.

“The decision follows a comprehensive review of the cooperative’s financial performance, membership growth, and management recommendations,” Chad Reisenauer, director of Community & Member Relations, said.

Effective Jan. 1, the rate adjustments will include a base fee increase of $100 per month, and a meter fee increase of 3 cents per meter, per month, for an average increase of 17.5% across the Basin Electric membership – although Reisenauer said the actual impact will vary by cooperative.

SRS has maintained a stable rate structure for the last seven years due to prudent fiscal management, continued growth, and operational efficiencies. However, growing operational costs have created the need to update our rates to better reflect the true cost of service. “We recognize that any rate adjustment requires thoughtful consideration,” Reisenauer said. “Please know that we remain committed to transparency and to ensuring the long-term sustainability of SRS operations.”
