Resolutions Committee meets ahead of Basin Electric Annual Meeting

Basin Electric's members shape the future of their cooperative.

The Basin Electric Resolutions Committee, made up of representatives from each of Basin Electric's districts and a Basin Electric board member, had its first annual review meeting on June 23. The meeting was held virtually.

The committee is responsible for the ongoing review of position statements on legislation, public policy, cooperative, and industry-related issues.

After re-electing David Sigloh, director from Upper Missouri Power Cooperative, as its chairperson, the committee discussed key issues facing the cooperative and reviewed the cooperative’s existing resolutions.

"We truly value the committee's efforts," said Chris Baumgartner, senior vice president of Member and External Relations. "The resolutions process is one way the cooperative members can help shape the direction of their cooperative. It helps to develop policies that reflect the needs of those we serve, encourages thoughtful discussion of key issues, and reinforces democratic cooperative principles."

No new resolutions have been brought forward by the membership thus far.

Previously, the committee met on an annual basis. Going forward, the committee will meet every other year unless an earlier meeting is deemed necessary by the Basin Electric Board of Directors. Members will serve two-year terms.

The Resolutions Committee will meet again Aug. 11, prior to Basin Electric’s 2026 Annual Meeting of the Membership.
