Basin Electric team focused on three shared cooperative goals

Each year, Basin Electric sets three shared cooperative goals to keep the entire team focused on the cooperative’s top priorities. The three shared cooperative goals for 2025 are safety, reliability, and affordability – all of which are foundational to fulfilling Basin Electric’s mission to provide reliable, affordable electricity to our member-owners in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

The three shared cooperative goals help fulfill Basin Electric’s mission to provide reliable, affordable electricity to our member-owners in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

“We’ve continued to focus on these goals the past several years but have identified some new metrics within the goals to help us accomplish them,” Andy Buntrock, vice president of Strategic Planning and Communications, said.

These goals are derived from the Basin Electric board of director’s strategic objectives which include safety, reliability, load growth and rate design, affordable and stable rates, people focus, financial performance and agility, portfolio strategy, and a Dakota Gas plan. Each strategic objective has metrics and targets that were built with the help of an outside consultant, Basin Electric’s senior management, and the board of directors.

The three shared cooperative goals are communicated with all Basin Electric employees along with incentives tied to achieving them.

“Because these goals are so critical to the success of the cooperative, we want to have a unified team that understands them and can see how their work directly impacts the member at the end of the line,” Buntrock said.
