Internships

Basin Electric and Dakota Gasification Company's paid internships run parallel with students attending regular full-time classes. Internships are available in a variety of professional positions. Students work part-time while attending school and full-time during the summer months. The internship is flexible, working around the students' classroom schedule. Internships typically run from 3-9 months.

Basin Electric and Dakota Gasification Company, along with other utility companies, also work hand-in-hand with Bismarck State College's Power Plant Technology/Process Plant Technology Program. An internship has been implemented as part of the curriculum whereby students must intern at an energy facility. This is a paid two-week ONLY internship.

Students interested in gaining a meaningful work experience should contact their college advisor, department chairperson or placement office located at the educational institution they are attending. Internships may be located at Headquarters in Bismarck or at a plant facility.

Student Intern/Cooperative Education Program

This program is designed to assist students in applying their education to productive work experiences in their field of study by offering full-time paid work instead of regular classes.

Basin Electric and Dakota Gasification Company pays the cost of tuition and fees for credits received for Student Intern/Cooperative Education Program work experience. The maximum credits allowable per semester will be four.

Placements are available in a variety of professional positions. Students may be placed at various locations throughout the organization.

Student placements usually take place in the spring or fall, but are also done as workforce needs dictate.
